You are paying for leads. Are the jobs coming in?
Builders, roofers, electricians, garages and other local firms often pay a directory, an agency or Google Ads anywhere from a few tens of pounds to well over a thousand a month. The update arrives. The diary does not fill. This page is about seeing what that money is actually doing.

The part that wears you down
A report that is not about jobs
The monthly email is full of charts: visits, impressions, a line going up. It rarely says how many people called, or how many of those calls became paid work.
You cannot see the account
The ads, the Google listing or the website login sit with someone else. Asking for a look can feel awkward. Sometimes the answer is no, or a promise to send it later.
Another upgrade, another promise
A lead guarantee, a bigger package, an extra fee to be seen in AI chat tools. The pitch is confident. You still do not know whether the last one produced a single job.
Start with the number you already have
Before you open anyone else's report, write down three figures for the last month or two: what you paid, how many enquiries came in, and how many became paid jobs. Calls, forms and walk-ins all count. If you cannot get those figures, that is the problem to fix first, not the colour of the graphs.
Owners in the trades rarely talk about analytics tools. They talk about the phone, the diary and a feeling that they are paying for something they cannot see. Those are the right measures. The technical faults, when there are any, sit underneath them.
Then check the things a customer actually uses
A quiet month is not always the supplier's fault. Season, reviews and the page itself all change how many people get in touch. These are checks you can do without anyone's permission.
- On your phone, open the homepage the way a customer would. Can you tap the number and call, without pinching the screen or hunting in the footer?
- Look at your Google Business Profile, the listing that shows on Google Maps. Are the hours, photos and services current? When was the last review, and have you replied to it?
- Read the first screen of the website. Does it say what you do, where you work, and how to get a quote?
- If you pay for ads, ask to see the searches you actually paid for. If you do not have access, that conversation comes before any upgrade.
Use the guides when you want the detail
The checks above are the short version. These go further, and they are useful even if you never open an AuditCrow account.
- Is your agency actually delivering? covers access, what to ask, and a note you can send.
- When Google Ads conversions are not real jobs explains why a busy ads account can still mean an empty diary.
- Questions to ask your SEO agency is the list to use before the next invoice.
What AuditCrow can show you
The free scan looks at one page and tells you the first thing to fix. The platform, in beta, watches the whole site and, if you connect them, your Google listing, search results and ads. It does not take the work off your supplier. It tells you what to do next, and checks when a change has gone live.

- Speed on a phone, and the heavy files behind a slow load
- The one fix we trust most, in plain English
AuditCrow platform
Your whole site, kept watched
- Google Business Profile completeness, categories and review recency
- Google Ads spend, clicks and conversions, next to the page they pay for
- A ranked list of jobs for the site, then a check that the change went live
- Search Console clicks and queries, so a rankings claim can be compared with real clicks
AuditCrow does not read the list of searches you paid for, and it does not know which phone taps became jobs. Those live in the ads account and in your own diary. It also does not log the changes an agency made inside an ad account. Use the conversions guide for the questions to ask, and use AuditCrow for the website and the totals.
