Free Open Graph checker
See how a link will look when it's shared on LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, Slack and X, and what's missing from its Open Graph and Twitter Card tags. No signup.
We fetch the page and check its share image loads. Nothing is stored.
Why share previews matter
When someone pastes your link into LinkedIn, a WhatsApp group or a Slack channel, the app builds a preview card from tags in your page's HTML. A card with a clear headline and a proper image gets noticed; a bare link or a random logo gets scrolled past. For small businesses that rely on word of mouth and social posts, that's a lot of free attention decided by a handful of tags.
What this checker tests
The core Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and og:type), whether the image address is complete, and whether the image actually loads and is an image under the size platforms accept. It also checks twitter:card, which X needs to choose its layout. The preview is an approximation: each app styles cards slightly differently, and most crop the image.
After you fix it
Platforms cache previews, sometimes for days. Once your tags are right, use LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Facebook's Sharing Debugger to make them fetch the page again. While you're in the page's head, check your title and meta description too; they're the fallback when Open Graph tags are missing.
This is one check. Your site needs dozens.
The full AuditCrow audit runs this alongside speed, SEO, accessibility, trust and AI readiness, then tells you what to fix first, in plain English.
Common questions
Straight answers about what this check does, and doesn't do.
What are Open Graph tags?
Tags in your page's HTML (og:title, og:description, og:image and friends) that tell LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, Slack and most other apps what to show when someone shares your link. Without them the app guesses, often badly.
What size should an og:image be?
1200 by 630 pixels suits most platforms. Keep the file under about 1 MB and avoid text near the edges, because some apps crop to a square.
I've fixed my tags but LinkedIn still shows the old preview. Why?
Platforms cache previews. LinkedIn's Post Inspector and Facebook's Sharing Debugger both let you ask them to fetch the page again.
Do I need Twitter Card tags as well?
X reads Open Graph tags as a fallback, but it needs twitter:card to know which layout to use. Add twitter:card = summary_large_image to show your image full width.
