No structured data: how to describe your business to Google and AI

Check T7 · Last reviewed

Structured data is code on your page that states facts about your business in a format search engines and AI tools read reliably: name, address, phone, opening hours and logo. Add Organization or LocalBusiness markup to your homepage, then test it.

Why it matters

Search engines and AI assistants piece together who you are from many sources. Structured data states the facts directly, which makes it less likely they get your phone number, address or opening hours wrong.

For local businesses, matching name, address and phone details across your site, your Google Business Profile and directories is a long-standing trust signal.

It's also how you tell search engines which logo and social profiles belong to you.

How AuditCrow checks this

AuditCrow reads the JSON-LD structured data on your page and checks that some is present.

How to fix it

  1. 1Check what your platform already adds: Wix and Squarespace generate business markup from your business details automatically.
  2. 2If it's missing, add a LocalBusiness (or Organization) block with your name, address, phone number, opening hours and logo, using the same details as your Google Business Profile.
  3. 3Add it once, on your homepage or contact page, so two blocks can't contradict each other.
  4. 4Test the live page with Google's Rich Results Test and fix any errors.
